Operational Support
New Employee/Visitor Introduction to
Operations
All visitors must be escorted by a qualified BNL employee/guest
while at BNL or they must be properly trained and indoctrinated. The
process for a new employee/guest after they receive an official BNL appointment
is as follows:
- Upon check in at Human Resources you received a list of the safety-related
training courses you are required to complete and a schedule for them.
The Training
Coordinator along with your sponsor determined what courses you need to
complete in order to perform the work that is planned.
- You will be given a brief Environmental, Safety and Health indoctrination
by the ESH Coordinator. The ESH Coordinator contact information is on
the New Employee Orientation Form that you received.
- If you are starting up a new experiment you will need to have it reviewed
by our Experimental Safety Review Committee. The first step is to
complete an ESH Review
of Experiments Form (contact Ann Emrick). For more information go to the
Experimental Review page. If
you are participating in an ongoing experiment you will need to be added to that
experimental review, the ESH coordinator will assist you in doing this.
- Personal Protective Equipment, Dosimeters (TLDs) and Radiation Work
Permits are administered by the Facility Support Group.
- The training courses you will take will provide you with the basic
knowledge needed to conduct your work safely. If you have questions at
any time please feel free to contact any member of the Life Sciences Operations Support Team
or for clarification on policies or procedures visit the BNL Standards Based Management
System.
