Motivation

Lattice gauge theory, which is an active field of research at RBRC and BNL, provides a rigorous, numerical approach to the study of particle physics models in strongly-coupled regimes. In addition to the study of the strong nuclear force as described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD), lattice studies can play an important role in many areas of research into possible new physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), including:

  • Intersections between new physics and QCD, such as proton decay and electric dipole moments;
  • Cosmological physics, including the electroweak phase transition and dark matter detection;
  • New theoretical models, which can give rise to composite Higgs or composite dark matter sectors.

In all of these topic areas, there are rapid developments on both the theoretical and experimental sides, making regular workshops such as this important. The goal of the "Lattice Meets Experiment" workshop series is to bring together experimentalists, phenomenologist's, and lattice theorists, in order to stimulate discussion on the most interesting models and studies to pursue. This will be the third workshop in the "Lattice Meets Experiment: BSM" series, with the previous two having been held at Fermilab in 2011 and the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2012.

Special Evening Event

Attendees are invited to attend an optional buffet dinner to be held on-site at the Brookhaven Center (Bldg. 30) on Thursday, December 5.

Please note, this will be at personal cost, and will be approximately US $45-$50/pp (includes beer/wine/soda). This cost will be collected by the organizers during the first day of the workshop.

Please indicate whether or not you plan to attend on the registration form as we will need a total number of attendees before the workshop begins. Directions
