QCDOC Computer Accounts

In order to access QCDOC computing resources at BNL you will need: a QCDOC computer account, a QCDOC ssh gateway account and a Web Allocator account.

US DOE QCDOC computer account

US DOE computer accounts allow members of the US QCD collaboration to access QCDOC computing resources at BNL. These resources include the IBM p655 front-end node, storage and archiving systems and, of course, the US DOE QCDOC machine partitions. Requesting a QCDOC computer account is a multi-step process. Detailed instructions are provided in How to get a US DOE QCDOC Computer Account.

QCDOC ssh gateway account

In order to access QCDOC computing resources at BNL remotely you will need an account on the QCDOC ssh gateways. Logging into the front-end node remotely is a two-hop process: first you need to login into a QCDOC ssh gateway and then ssh from there to the front-end node (one-hop logging into the front end node is possible via ssh tunneling). The QCDOC ssh gateways can also be used to stage or tunnel data to the QCDOC storage systems.

QCDOC ssh gateway accounts are created automatically along with your QCDOC computer account. You do not need to request a gateway account separately.

Web Allocator Account

The Web Allocator account will allow you to allocate a US DOE QCDOC machine partition. The Web Allocator page (https://rbc.bnl.gov) lists the available machine partitions and ways to allocate them. The QCDOC staff will set up your Web Allocator account for you.
