Here we show a cross section of the dipole with the additional shield for stopping synchrotron radiation generated by the decay electrons. The shield concept is outlined in Figure 8. Here we note that the shield used in the toy model is taken to be quite thick in order to ensure that very little energy can leak through. Given the observed minimal photon penetration of the shield we anticipate that it could be made much thinner. In future studies we intend to investigate a baffled shield configuration, with integrated channels, that could be useful for vacuum pumping.

As in Figure 4 many of the tracks which appear to intercept the ring inside superconducting coils are actually projections of collimator albedo backscatter tracks. This again emphasizes that the collimator design optimization should take backscatter irradiation of the coil ends in to account.
