Celebrating Brookhaven Lab’s 2009 R&D 100 Award

The Brookhaven Lab team that developed the 2009 R&D 100 Award-winning ProxiScan™, a compact gamma camera that can detect prostate cancer in detail at an early stage, attended a gala awards ceremony honoring all of the winners at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel at Seaworld, Florida. R&D Magazine sponsors the awards annually to recognize the top 100 technological achievements of the year.

At the exhibit featuring ProxiScan™ is the Brookhaven Lab scientific team: (from left) Aleksey Bolotnikov, Ralph James, Giuseppe Camarda, Yonggang Cui, Anwar Hossain, and Ge Yang, all from the Nonproliferation and National Security Department, and (second from right) George Mahler, Collider-Accelerator Department. Joining them are: (third from right) Kenneth Weisman, a urologist from Midstate Hospital in Meriden, Connecticut, and (far right) Terry Lall, CEO of Hybridyne Imaging Technologies, Inc. The Brookhaven Lab team, along with Lall, their industrial partner, was honored with the award.
