Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is under way and the Asian Pacific American Association at Brookhaven Lab invites the Lab community to celebrate at a number of upcoming events.

The fifth annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration will be held at the Wang Center at Stony Brook University on Saturday, May 11, from noon to 6 p.m. This celebration is co-sponsored by multiple local groups, including the Lab, and is hosted by the Suffolk County Office Asian American Advisory Board. There will be dance, music, and vocal performances from ten Asian countries, multi-cultural booths with arts and crafts displays, workshops, and the presentation of awards. This event is free.

During the Saturday event, Director of the Photon Division in the Photon Sciences Directorate Qun Shen will be honored as a distinguished Asian American professional. Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone is scheduled to honor Shen in the theater at 4:30 p.m. and tickets are required. A "GO" tournament series will be held at Brookhaven Lab Wednesday through Friday, May 22-24, from noon to 1:00 p.m. each day in a conference room at the Research Support Building. For more information, contact Xin Zhao (Ext. 2107). Add to calendar
