The Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) invites representatives from both academia and high tech industry to a joint one-day workshop on Monday, January 7, 2013, to showcase the capabilities, resources, and expertise available at the CFN. Bring ideas for possible proposals to the Workshop! Representatives from the CFN Scientific Staff and the BNL Technology Commercialization & Partnerships Office will be available to conduct discussions with you regarding the feasibility of your nanoscience research ideas, how to become a CFN User, and proprietary research opportunities, among other topics.
To fulfill its mission as a user-oriented research center, the CFN maintains vigorous internal research programs on nanocatalysis, soft and biological nanomaterials, and electronic nanomaterials that focus on our nation’s energy-security challenges and offers a unique environment for synergistic collaborations among CFN scientists and external academic, industrial, and national laboratory users.
Such users investigate diverse research topics like efficient catalysts, fuel cell chemistries and architectures, and photovoltaic components, can conduct research (model and design novel nanomaterials, probe and characterize properties of nanomaterials, or investigate the physical, chemical, and/or biological performance of nanomaterials) using CFN’s seven nanoscale science research facilities: Nanofabrication; Materials Synthesis & Characterization; Proximal Probes; Electron Microscopy; Advanced Optics; Theory & Computation; and X-ray end stations at the National Synchrotron Light Source.
