Credentialing for Human Subjects Research

All licensed medical professionals involved in human subject research must be approved as members of the CRC Staff.

To become a member of the CRC Staff, an application must be completed and submitted to the Office of Research Administration (ORA).

Membership in the CRC Staff shall be limited to those persons who are currently employees or have BNL collaborative appointments.  No appointment shall be valid beyond an individualís term as an employee or collaborator at BNL.  Appointment to the BNL staff does not confer or imply membership in the CRC Staff.  Appointment to the CRC Staff shall not be denied to any individual for reasons of race, sex, religion, national origin, creed, color, disability or age.

Initial appointments, re-appointments, replacement or revocation of appointments to the CRC Staff shall be made by the Chair of the Credentialing Committee based on recommendations from the Credentialing Committee. The Credentialing Committee has the authority to seek outside peer review of any staff member application/renewal. The Credentialing Committee has authority to mandate all necessary training requirements required for the privileges requested by CRC staff members.

The professional conduct of  CRC Staff is governed by:

  • The Principles of medical ethics as governed by their respective professional associations (e.g., AMA, Medical Society of NY State),
  • The Declaration of Helsinki (Recommendation Guiding Doctors in Clinical Research adoptedby the World Medical Association in 1964),
  • The Department of Health and Human Services Protection of Human Subjects (45 CFR 46)
  • The Federal Policy for the Protection
  • The Department of Energy Policy on the Protection of Human Subjects (DOE Order 443.1).

Meet with your Supervisor to determine your tasks/responsibilities 

Have your Supervisor place their initials  for required task/responsibility in the first column

Complete all training required for marked tasks/responsibilities 

Return application, including list of required training,  to Office of Research Administration along with any required documentation as listed in application
