Grants & Prizes

Student Program

The funding opportunities for the Student Program for PAC'11 include:

  1. Travel grants and registration fee subsidies
  2. Student Poster Prizes.

The travel grants include reimbursement of the student registration fee and funds toward travel and accommodation expenses. A limited number of grants will be available. Regrettably, the grants do not necessarily cover all costs involved in attending the conference. The number and value of the grants will be announced at the time of awarding, Monday, December 20, 2010.

The application criteria are:

  1. To register as a Student for PAC'11.
  2. To submit an abstract by October 3, 2010 and a paper to the proceedings by March 23, 2011.
  3. To confirm your student status by sending a letter from either your supervisor, department head, or university registrar confirming your enrollment in a full-time, degree-granting university science or engineering course.   4. Apply for a grant beginning September 7, 2010 once an abstract has been submitted.
  5. By applying for a Student Grant, you are automatically entered into the Student Poster competition.

The deadline for applications is Friday, October 22, 2010.

Due to limited funds, the grants will be awarded by open competition. Applicants will be ranked according to merit. If demand for grants exceeds the funds available, some students may receive partial grants.

All students meeting the application criteria above and in addition who describe and defend their work at the special Student Poster Session on Sunday, March 27, 2011, will be eligible for the Student Poster Prizes. Any students chosen to give a contributed oral presentation must still present a poster during the Student Poster Session in order to be eligible for the Poster Prizes.

PAC'11 CANNOT PAY STUDENTS’ EXPENSES OR FEES IN ADVANCE. Any grants awarded will be distributed during the conference.
