The technical focus of the Rogers lab is carbon and nitrogen metabolism, therefore most of the resources and techniques in the lab center on the measurement of physiological and biochemical markers for carbon and nitrogen status.  These range from the measurement of photosynthetic parameters using portable infra red gas analyzers, to high throughput analysis of enzyme activities using a liquid handling robot.

One of ten national laboratories overseen and primarily funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Brookhaven National Laboratory conducts research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, as well as in energy technologies and national security.
