Summary of Experience
Reviewed federal and state programs for
controlling toxic chemical discharges into the Hudson River;
assessed health and environmental risks of coal conversion technologies;
examined health risks of different energy conservation strategies;
examined effects of air pollution on agricultural production; examined
cancer risks of different pollutants and complex technologies; examined
process for selecting, constructing, and operating a geologic repository
for high-level radioactive wastes; developed tools and facility designs
for a chemical emergency response center at EPA; evaluated hazards from
drinking water contaminated by leachate from abandoned uranium
mill-tailing sites; compared hazards of low-level radioactive waste
disposal on land and in the ocean; examining health effects of toxic air
emissions from coal use; evaluating role of computer models in clean-up
of hazardous waste sites; examining environmental, health and safety
hazards associated with the production, use, and disposal of
photovoltaic modules.
Received Federal Laboratory Consortium Award for
Excellence in Technology Transfer.
Received Certificate of Appreciation
for outstanding support of the DOE Photovoltaic Thin-Film Development
project. Appointed Head of the Environmental and Waste Technology
Center.
