Summary of Experience
Reviewed federal and state programs for controlling toxic chemical discharges into the Hudson River; assessed health and environmental risks of coal conversion technologies; examined health risks of different energy conservation strategies; examined effects of air pollution on agricultural production; examined cancer risks of different pollutants and complex technologies; examined process for selecting, constructing, and operating a geologic repository for high-level radioactive wastes; developed tools and facility designs for a chemical emergency response center at EPA; evaluated hazards from drinking water contaminated by leachate from abandoned uranium mill-tailing sites; compared hazards of low-level radioactive waste disposal on land and in the ocean; examining health effects of toxic air emissions from coal use; evaluating role of computer models in clean-up of hazardous waste sites; examining environmental, health and safety hazards associated with the production, use, and disposal of photovoltaic modules.

Received Federal Laboratory Consortium Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer.

Received Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding support of the DOE Photovoltaic Thin-Film Development project. Appointed Head of the Environmental and Waste Technology Center.
