Special Evening Event

Registered attendees are invited to attend the optional banquet dinner after the Workshop on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Ramada Plaza (formerly Crowne Plaza) in Holtsville, NY; free of charge for registered participants. Directions

Food at BNL

Note: There is no dinner service available on Saturday or Sunday evenings so please make sure you eat before you arrive or make other arrangements for those evenings.

Also, as of April 1, 2013, there will no longer be any cafeteria service on the weekends. Vending machines (including sandwiches, salads, beverages, coffee, ice cream, and microwaveable foods, as well as a selection of toiletries) are located in the Post Office (www.bnl.gov/maps/point.php?Lat=40.86776&Lng=-72.88106) (Building 179) and the Research Support Building (www.bnl.gov/guv/map.asp) (Building 400) and are available 24-hours 7 days per week.

A small eating area and microwave oven are also provided at these locations.

Computer Access

Three computer terminals are located in Berkner Hall (Bldg. 488) for internet access or accessing your email. You may also use the local network jacks to connect your own laptop as well. If attendees bring laptops, PDAs, etc. that will require internet access during the workshop, then these devices must be registered in BNL's Network Access Registration database in order to access the internet.

Registering your computer device can be done via the device's web browser upon first connecting to BNL's network; however, the registration process will require a BNL life or guest number.

If you do not have a BNL-assigned life or guest number, a specially generated conference key will be provided to you on the first day of the workshop. This conference key is only valid during the actual days of the workshop. Please use this conference key in place of the BNL-assigned life or guest number.

Note: Attendees will only have 15 minutes to complete their computer registration. Computers will be blocked if registration is not complete in time. Please make sure you understand the process before starting or ask for assistance.

Faxing Documents

Fax machines are located in Berkner Hall (Bldg. 488) for those who require faxing services. The phone number for Berkner Hall's fax machine is 631-344-5568.

Access to Event for Non-U.S. Citizens

• Non-U.S. Citizens must complete the Additional BNL Guest Registration form and be approved in the BNL Guest Information System (GIS) if they would like to attend this event.
  
  U.S. Citizens who are planning to use BNL's on-site accommodations must also complete the Additional BNL Guest Registration form and be approved in the BNL Guest Information System (GIS).
  
  If you have a current BNL Appointment and a valid BNL Guest Number or you have a pending BNL Guest Registration (GR) Number, it is not necessary to complete the Additional BNL Guest Registration form again.

• When you arrive at BNL's main gate, please inform the guard you are attending the Seventh International Workshop on Radiation Safety at Synchrotron Radiation Sources (RadSynch13) event.
  
  You may be requested to check in at the security trailer. Proper Visitor Identification will be required.

Weather Conditions at Brookhaven

Please always dress accordingly. If there is very inclement weather and you think there is a possibility of BNL either having a delayed opening or being closed for the day, you may call extension x4636 (INFO) from an on-site BNL telephone.
