The RHIC/AGS Users' Meeting and Elections

By Jim Sowinski

As the snow comes down it seems like June, warm weather and the annual Users' meeting are a long time in the future. But it is time to start the planning for what we hope will be a celebration of a successful run 9. The meeting is set for June 1 — 5 as previously announced here in the RHIC news. The Users Executive Committee recently chose "The Emergent Frontier" as the theme for the meeting. As we begin the planning we would like to solicit your input on topics for the workshops.

The UEC consists of 18 members, including the Chair, the Chair-Elect, the Past Chair, eleven elected members, two specifically a student or post-doc, and four appointed members. We meet monthly to discuss and work on issues that range from quality of life for visitors to representing science to our representatives in Washington as well as communicating the interests and concerns of the Users to lab management. The election of new committee members occurs immediately before the Users' meeting. Please consider volunteering or nominating someone to serve the RHIC/AGS community by running for chair-elect or one of the regular member and junior member positions. The UEC website is at http://www.rhicuec.org/ if you would like to learn more about the committee. If you have suggestions for workshops, or wish to volunteer or nominate someone for the UEC elections please drop a note to userscenter@bnl.gov by January 20th.
