Welcome to RHIC News
We hope that this web publication will in some small measure reflect the excitement of the RHIC and AGS program at Brookhaven, as explained by some of the people who are doing the experiments, analyzing the data, and writing the papers.
Truemanfest
By Sally Dawson
On Monday, May 12, 2008, the BNL Physics Department and
colleagues gathered to celebrate the retirement of Larry Trueman
with a symposium. The symposium featured talks on the history of
spin physics at BNL, along with talks by many of Larry’s
collaborators. Larry worked at BNL for 46 years in a variety of
roles.

Source Imaging of the Expanding Fireball
By Paul Chung
The PHENIX Collaboration at RHIC has performed a
model-independent extraction of the three-dimensional (3D)
source function for mid-rapidity pion pairs, with transverse
momentum pT between 0.2 and 0.36 GeV, produced in semi-central
relativistic collisions of Au beams at a centre-of-mass energy
of 200 GeV/nucleon.

Understanding
the Jet Quenching and Medium Response: A Survey Study of Di-hadron
Correlation From PHENIX
By Jiangyong Jia
A jet is a collimated cluster of particles, which are the
fragments of outgoing quarks and gluons produced in
hard-scattering processes in high-energy and heavy-ion
collisions. Jets are typically produced in pairs and fly
back-to-back in the direction transverse to the beam (di-jets).
