STAR on the Grid

Deans of PHENIX

Two PHENIX collaborators have recently accepted positions as deans at their home institutions.

Victoria Greene is now Executive Dean for the College of Arts and Science at Vanderbilt University, and Axel Drees is an Associate Dean for Operations & Budget in the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook University.

First Beam in LHC

First beam in LHC is planned for Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Activities at CERN will be reported here.

Final E949 Results

AGS Experiment 949, the successor to 787, reported three new "below the peak" candidate events. The preprint, submitted to Physical Review Letters is here, and an article describing the experiment was in the Brookhaven Bulletin.

NSAC Meeting

The DOE/NSF Nuclear Science Advisory Council met on August 21, 2008. The meeting agneda and slides are here, including a presentation by Brookhaven Associate Laboratory Director Steve Vigdor.
