Workshop on

P- and CP-odd Effects in Hot and Dense Matter

If you are a Non-U.S. Citizen, you must complete a Guest Registration Form in addition to the Workshop Registration. Motivation & Plans

Our goal is to initiate a cross-disciplinary discussion of topological effects (such as Chern-Simons number generation) in hot and dense QCD matter, including the implications for cosmology and condensed matter physics. We plan to critically review the current state of the theory, the experiment and the unsolved questions; to formulate new research directions; and to make the predictions for the future program of RHIC as well as for the heavy ion program at the LHC, FAIR and NICA.

Specific topics to be discussed include:

•  the current experimental results on charge asymmetries at RHIC;
• quantitative characterization of topological effects in QCD matter, including both analytical and numerical (lattice) calculations;
•  topological effects in cosmology of the Early Universe (including in particular the mechanism of magnetic helicity generation);
• topological effects in condensed matter physics (e.g. graphene and superuids);
• directions for the future experimental studies of P- and CP-odd effects at RHIC and elsewhere.

Accommodations

Limited on-site housing is available which will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The event coordinator will make on-site housing reservations for all visitors according to the arrival and departure dates listed on their registration form. Visitors will be contacted by the event coordinator regarding confirmation information.

Proceedings Information for Speakers

All speakers are to submit a 6-page Proceedings Package consisting of:

• 1 cover page with name, affiliation and short summary
• 5 significant pages from your presentation

•  This Proceedings Package must be submitted prior to or during the workshop: a paper copy is preferable; however, if necessary, an electronic copy may be submitted to pesposit@bnl.gov.
  
• The Proceedings are printed in black and white only…please avoid color.
