BY TRAIN
To get to Montauk, one can take a Long Island Rail Road train from the Jamaica station (if you arrive via the JFK airport) or New York City's Penn Station (if you are coming from the city). The train ride from Jamaica is about 2.5 hours and the schedule is sparse. Jamaica station is easily accessible from the JFK airport by the Airtrain. To get to Jamaica from the LaGuardia airport we recommend taking a taxi ($20-$30).

Once at the Montauk train station, you will need to take a cab to the Montauk Yacht Club: most likely there will be a cab waiting for a train. If not you could call some local companies (e.g. Montauk Taxi, Phone: 631-668-2468 Celtic Cabs, Phone: 631-668-4747).

BY CAR

BY AIR
If you are traveling by air, schedule your flights into New York's Major Airports: LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy (JFK), Islip Mac Arthur (ISP) where car rental and public transportation options are available.

Private Plane Service is available at either the East Hampton Airport (HTO)- 631-537-1130 or the Montauk Airport (MTP) at 631-668-3738. New England Airlines offers Year-round single and twin-engine charter service.

BY FERRY
Participants driving to Montauk from points North or East (e.g. Massachusetts) can use a car ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, Long Island, NY. The ferry departs approximately every hour. Drive time is approximately 2 hours by car from Orient Point to Montauk.

• All schedules and assigned vessels are subject to change. Please call ahead to verify departure time. Sailing time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

For participants coming from Massachusetts or Connecticut who come for the entire duration of the conference (9/6-9/10) and will not need a car while at Montauk can use a fast passenger ferry from New London, CT directly to Montauk, Long Island, NY. This way the travel time from Boston will be about 3 hours:  2 hours to New London, + 1 hour on the ferry.

There is only one ferry per day on 9/6 band 9/10 (and no ferry on 9/7, 9/8 and 9/9) a and the cost is $40 one-way or $75 round trip. The ferry leaves from New London, CT at 8:00 pm on Monday, September 6 and returns from Montauk, NY at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 10.

BY BUS
Hampton Jitney runs a coach bus to Montauk from various destinations in Manhattan or Brooklyn and stop in Queens (a taxi cab ride away from either JFK or LaGuardia). The most recent schedule (in PDF) is here under "Montauk Line Eastbound South Fork Schedule".
