Food Services

Food services are considered an integral part of life at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Nayyarson  provides food and beverage services at BNL. Cafeteria

The cafeteria is located in Berkner Hall, Bldg. 488, 11 Brookhaven Avenue. 

• Hours of Operation: 
  The Cafeteria is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Weekend and holiday brunch from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The cafeteria is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. 

Breakfast Service (served, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.):

Snack Service (served, Monday to Friday, 10:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.)

Brookhaven Center

The Brookhaven Center is located, in Bldg. 30, 23 South Upton Road across from Police Headquarters.  The Center Restaurant is an informal and comfortable setting for dinner and cocktails.   The menu includes fish, steaks, burgers, chicken, salads, soups appetizers, sandwiches, and there are always vegetarian options.  There is a selection of fifteen tap or bottled beers, wine and mixed drinks.  Eat-in and take-out services are provided.  For more information call ext. 2204 during hours of operation.

• Hours of Operation:
  Monday - Thursday - 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  Fridays -  4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  Closed Saturdays, Sundays, the evening before a BNL Holiday and all BNL Holidays.
• Dinner Service:  5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  Last call is 9:30 p.m.
• Friday Special - 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  House brand drinks - $3.50 each, Killian pints - $2.25 each and  complimentary Buffet
  
  No outside food permitted in club at anytime.
  We reserve the right to refuse service to guests who appear intoxicated or act inappropriately.

Brookhaven Cafe

The Brookhaven Cafe is located in the Research Support Building, Building 400, 20 Brookhaven Avenue.  The Cafe is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM proudly serving Starbucks Coffee, pastries, rolls, bagels and cookies.

Catering Events, Cold Lunches, and Coffee Breaks

Breakfasts, buffets, dinner service, hot and cold lunches, and coffee breaks are custom designed to your needs.  Catering services are provided in the conference facilities at Berkner Hall, the Brookhaven Center, the Chemistry building and the Occupational Medicine Clinic (OMC).  Services include coffee breaks and lunches, and special occasion dinners up to 400 guests.

• Service for events that include hot meals are provided by the Nayyarson food service staff.  Contact the catering office at ext. 3541 in advance regarding special dietary requirements or for more information.
• Coffee Breaks and Cold Lunches can be delivered to department and division buildings. Contact the Conference Services Office at ext. 3545 or email comas@bnl.gov.

Conference Services provides conference and meeting support for all functions held at Berkner Hall (Bldg 488), the Brookhaven Center (Bldg 30), the Hamilton Seminar Room at Chemistry (Bldg 555), the Large Conference Room at Medical (Bldg 490) and the Research Support Building (Bldg 400)

You may view the current availability and capacity of these facilities by accessing our Meeting Room Schedule, which is also called the Scheduled Activity Viewer (SAVii). To request reserving one of these facilities with or without support services, click on our Coffee Break/Meeting Room Request Form, which is also called Express Request.

Vending Services

Food and Vending Service Machines are located in high population areas throughout the site. Available items include sandwiches, salads, beverages, coffee, ice cream, and microwaveable foods, as well as a selection of toiletries. Machines located in the Post Office, Building 179 and the Research Support Building, Building 400 are available 24-hours 7 days per week. A small eating area and microwave oven are also provided at these locations.
