Prior to joining BNL, Carla was a chemistry graduate student at Stony Brook University (SBU) with a focus in chemical biology. She engaged in research focused on targeting enzymes found in biological agents that pose a severe threat to the public and national security. She gained certification through the Center for Biotechnology at SBU, which allowed her to serve as a scientific, intellectual property, and competitive landscape advisor for the evaluation of a medical device.
