BSA 09-23: Fluorinated Arylboron Oxalate for Non-Aqueous Battery Electrolytes

BNL Reference Number: BSA 09-23

Patent Status: Application Number 20120183866 was published on July 19, 2012

Summary

A range of new fluorinated arylboron oxalate compounds for use as additives and anion receptors in lithium-based battery electrolytes have been developed. These additives increase the functionality of such battery electrolytes.

Description

The inventive technology relates to the design, synthesis, and application of a new family of fluorinated arylboron oxalate compounds as anion complexing and SEI forming agents in non-aqueous battery electrolytes.

Benefits

These additives, when used together with electrolytes, produce a battery with improved conductivity, lithium ion transference, and SEI formation over those using BBARs alone.

Applications and Industries

Li ion batteries
