HIGH BRIGHTNESS PHOTON BEAM GENERATOR IN A COMPACT DESIGN

Description: A high brightness, tunable photon beam generator in a compact design. The emitted beam is a high energy photon beam therefrom in the exemplary form of x-rays. The peak and average brightness of this beam at the target is comparable to a beam from a synchrotron source. The photon generator occupies less than 200 square feet. The photon energy is continuously tunable from 530nm - 1nm. The pulse duration is variable from 50fs - 3 ps.

Commercial and Technical Merit: The photon generator is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including applications in medicine, industry, biological science, and materials science. The system is extremely compact, compared to existing synchrotron facilities.

Competitive Advantage: This design offers performance characteristics comparable to expensive synchrotron sources. This design generates a beam that is 2-3 orders of magnitude greater than existing synchrotron light sources. The estimated operating expenses are very low.
