Beamlines U3C and X8A at the National Synchrotron Light Source

The purpose of this web site is to provide a convenient  source of information for PRT and general users of beamlines U3C and X8A at the Brookhaven National Laboratory's National Synchrotron Light Source.  Beamline U3C on the UV ring typically covers the photon energy range from 50 to 1000 eV, while X8A on the x-ray ring typically covers from 1-6 keV. The beamlines are used primarily for radiometric characterization of detectors, filters, mirrors and other optical components over this combined energy range.  In the past they have also been used to conduct basic research in atomic and condensed matter physics.
