The United Way "Lend A Helping Hand" Campaign

The Brookhaven National Laboratory community cares about Long Island issues and challenges. Because we care, we come together to raise money towards The United Way of Long Island, which provides “services to children and families” of Long Island.  All BNL contributions to The United Way go to their 175 Long Island agencies. 

Please take the time to visit the United Way of Long Island web site at http://www.unitedwayli.org/ to learn about the services provided by the 175 member agencies that are supported from our contributions, and the ways that they help our neighbors.  Just one small but important example is Project Warmth, a special heating emergency assistance program for those who just don't have the means to pay for heating oil to keep their homes warm.

One of ten national laboratories overseen and primarily funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Brookhaven National Laboratory conducts research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, as well as in energy technologies and national security. Brookhaven Lab also builds and operates major scientific facilities available to university, industry and government researchers. Brookhaven is operated and managed for DOE's Office of Science by Brookhaven Science Associates, a limited-liability company founded by the Research Foundation for the State University of New York on behalf of Stony Brook University, the largest academic user of Laboratory facilities, and Battelle, a nonprofit, applied science and technology organization.
