Stony Brook Benefits for BNLers

Staller Center for the Arts

Staller Center for the Arts offers a wide variety of world class performances from September through May and presents the Stony Brook Film Festival every July. With over 30 live performances throughout the season from professionally touring artists such as American Ballet Theatre, Kristin Chenoweth, Yo-Yo Ma and many more; in addition to a full line up of concerts generated by the Department of Music such as the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra.

BNL employees may use their BNL email address to order tickets on-line from the Staller Center, noting BNL EMPLOYEE in the comments box on the on-line order form. Up to two tickets for each Staller Center show will receive the $3 off faculty/staff discount. Or you may go to the Box Office in person or order by phone at 632-ARTS(2787). BNL ID will be required. NOTE: The discount may not be available for all events or shows. Ask at or call the box office for information.


Stony Brook/BNL Shuttle Service

The Office of the Vice President for Brookhaven Laboratory Affairs sponsors a minibus route between Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab. The service provides convenient transportation for students, faculty, and staff working at both Stony Brook University and the Laboratory. It is supported by the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Graduate School.

Library

A guest library card may be obtained by going to the Ward Melville Library Circulation Desk at the Library and presenting a BNL employee ID card. The West Campus University Library at Stony Brook contains bound volumes and publications in microformat. The libraries provide hundreds of databases and state-of-the-art information services, serving students, faculty, and the surrounding community.

SBU Parking Permits

As a courtesy, non-student employees of BNL are eligible for a Stony Brook University Faculty/Staff parking permit, which allows parking in Faculty/Staff parking lots on campus. You must have a valid Stony Brook parking permit to park on campus. Permits must be renewed every two years. To obtain a SBU Faculty/Staff parking permit you must first be entered into the SBU system as an affiliate of the University. Instructions for applying for a permit can be found at the Stony Brook Office of Brookhaven Affairs web site. The application can be done by email and the permit will be mailed directly to the employee. Contact Ann Ozelis in the Office of Brookhaven Affairs if you need assistance, (631) 632-4889.

Parking Garage, SBU West Campus

To purchase a parking garage pass for the garage attached to the Administration Building, a BNL employee must visit the card office (Room 103 of the Administration Bldg) and show their BNL ID badge to obtain an SBU ID card. They take their SBU ID card to the Garage Office (first floor of the Garage) and purchase a pass there. Regular SUNY Stony Brook employee rates apply.

Campus Recreation Center

The Department of Campus Recreation is located on Toll Drive in Building #39 next to the Student Union & the Stadium. Parking is pay/metered unless you have your own parking permit. Amenities include locker rooms and showers, cardiovascular area, jogging track, multi-activity court, wellness studio, weight room and gymnasium. BNL staff are considered Faculty/Staff, and a 13 month membership is $300. You must have a BNL badge to buy a membership. Open all year except for one week in May. Take a virtual tour.

Charles B. Wang Center

The Charles B. Wang Center at SUNY Stony Brook offers BNL badge holders a 20% discount off special event tickets at the Wang Center. Email: wangcenter@stonybrook.edu to reserve your tickets. On the day of performance, show your badge, pay for your discounted tickets & enjoy. NOTE: Payment is CASH only. Not available with on-line ticket purchases.

Seawolves Events Tickets

Catch the excitement of NCAA Division I athletics as Stony Brook teams compete in baseball, football, lacrosse, softball, and volleyball; men's and women's basketball, cross country, indoor track and field, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field; and women's golf. Stony Brook Swimming Pool

The pool is located in the Sports Complex across from the Recreation & Wellness Center. Enter the locker rooms and go downstairs to find the patron entrance. Fees, hours and other information Phone: 631-632-7168, campusrecreation@stonybrook.edu

Stony Brook Craft Center

Craft Center activities are open to the public. BNL employees are charged at the Community Member rate. An event calendar and instructions for registering are available on the Craft Center website. Payment may be by cash, check or money order only.
