Requesting a New Website

Note: If you are requesting a new Department or Division-level website or a website for a high-priority project outlined in the Laboratory's Annual Plan, you must follow the procedure outlined in the SBMS Web Communications subject area. Otherwise, you may follow the procedure below.

  1. To start a new website, please get proper authorization from your organization. (i.e. permission from someone in authority in your directorate, division, or group).
  2. You must have a BNL Domain Account to get "author" access to ITD webservers
  3. You will need a CryptoCard if you plan to author and maintain web pages from an off-site.
  4. Email www@bnl.gov to request setup of your website.

Your email must state the following:

    - Public domain - UNIX platform
     
  • The web folder name I would like to use is, see example below:

    Name of folder: [intranetdev.bnl.gov/something]
    Name of folder: [www2.bnl.gov/something]
     
  • I will be authoring or developing the web pages using:
     -
    FrontPage 2003/SharePoint Designer/Visual Studio (.NET)

    Note: it is highly recommended to use at least FrontPage 2002/2003 or the latest version of software.

    This is the same "account" you are using to login to Outlook.
