I-94 Electronic filing form

The Office of International Services has received information on a new telephonic scam potentially victimizing foreign nationals in the United States. According to one report, the individual will receive a call purporting to be from a USCIS officer, who will have certain correct information on the individual, including the individual's name and address. The caller will state that there is some discrepancy in USCIS records, and ask for confirmation of data, such as an I-94 number, an "A" number, or a visa control number. The caller will then tell the individual that there is a penalty for not clearing up the discrepancy, and that the individual is to send a sum of money via Western Union, to an address the caller provides.

If you receive such a call, it is extremely important that you immediately contact the Office of International Services through its manager, Shirley Kendall at 631-344-3318. Do NOT give out any personal information and/or send any money. You may also report it to appropriate law enforcement authorities, which may include the FBI, and to the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, whose Consumer Sentinel database is accessed by criminal and civil law enforcement authorities worldwide.

Important Information - Have you heard about the Green Card Lottery? A green card may be obtained through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program of the U.S. Department of State. To learn more please click on our Permanent Residency link on the left-hand menu.

For Applicants: New Practice Tests for Naturalization Preparation

The USCIS Office of Citizenship recently introduced three new practice tests to help permanent residents prepare for the naturalization interview. The first activity helps you with some general commands you may hear from an Immigration Services Officer during the naturalization interview. You can download self-study flash cards and review a practice exercise before taking the practice test called "Understanding Commands for the Naturalization Interview." There are two other activities that focus on vocabulary words that you may hear in your interview or read on the Application for Naturalization, Form N-400. You can find all three activities on the Study Materials for the English Test section of the Citizenship Resource Center.
