New Globus endpoint for NSLS-II

NSLS-II has new and improved support for transferring data.

For gigabyte-scale data or smaller, we recommend using an SFTP program (a web search can suggest many) and connecting to sftp.nsls2.bnl.gov.

For larger data sets, we recommend Globus. NSLS-II now offers a new-and-improved Globus endpoint, conveniently accessible in your web browser at globus.nsls2.bnl.gov. The old Globus endpoint is scheduled to be retired on December 16, 2024, so please update your bookmarks and procedures accordingly. All the of same data is accessible at the new endpoint: user home directories, proposal directories, and project directories.

Note that the old Global endpoint enabled "Guest Collections", where BNL users with access to files could share specific files with any Globus user, including users logged in via external accounts such as Gmail or ORCID. This is not consistent with NSLS-II's cybersecurity policies: access to NSLS-II data systems requires a BNL login. Therefore Guest Collections have been disabled on the new Globus endpoint. Use proposal directories to share data with users.

Technical addendum for those who need it: the new Globus origin ID is "819379a8-47db-439d-a5ba-a2387b79add9".
