The NSLS-II Experimental Tools III (NEXT-III) Project is a DOE-funded initiative to develop 8–12 new beamlines and supporting infrastructure at NSLS-II over the next decade. The project is proceeding in phases, with 2–3 beamlines launched every 1–2 years.
To identify candidate beamlines for the next phase, NSLS-II held ten Scientific Strategic Planning Workshops in the fall of 2025. We subsequently issued a call for one-page pre-proposals in December 2025 and ten were selected to advance to the full proposal stage.
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, these exciting ideas were shared with the user community at a NEXT-III Beamline Concepts Webinar.
