Seafood Extravaganza

Please note, there will be a fee in order to attend the dinner. However, the cost of the dinner will be discounted to $25 US for the first 30 registered student/post-docs.
Cocktail Reception
There will be a cocktail hour on Thursday, June 11, 2015, 5:30 PM in the lobby of Berkner Hall (Bldg. 488), compliments of BSA.
There is currently no food service available at Brookhaven Lab at this time. Food Options
Individuals or groups can order food to be delivered by external businesses or through apps such as GrubHub (https://www.grubhub.com) or DoorDash (https://www.doordash.com).

Given this situation with no available meals, individuals who do not have or use food delivery phone apps may prefer to have their own rental car.
Vending Service Machines (pdf) are located in high population areas throughout the site. Machines located in the Post Office, Building 179 and the Research Support Building, Building 400 are available 24-hours 7 days per week. A small eating area and microwave oven are also provided at these locations. Overnight guests can prepare these items in the dorms and apartments, where they have access to full kitchens.
For guests arriving on-site afterhours, the Guest, User, Visitor Center provides a list of restaurants and off-site food in the local area.
Guests planning to be on-site without vehicles for more than a day or two can also take advantage of the Lab's shopping shuttle service, which runs on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, dropping off and picking up at Southport Plaza Shopping Center in Shirley. There, they can buy groceries at the Stop & Shop supermarket, and other necessities at Kohl's department store and more than 30 other stores.

Three computer terminals are located in Berkner Hall (Bldg. 488) for internet access or accessing your email. You may also use the local network jacks to connect your own laptop as well.
If attendees bring laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. that will require internet access during the meeting, then these devices must be registered in Brookhaven Lab's (BNL) Network Access Registration database in order to access the internet at BNL.
Registering your computer device can be done via the device's web browser upon first connecting to BNL's network.
However, the registration process will require a a user's BNL Active Directory Credentials or in the event that you do not have an active BNL or guest account, a temporary user name and password can be generated and sent to them via a text message to your mobile device, which you will use to register your devices.

Please always dress accordingly. If there is very inclement weather, please check the BNL homepage for possible delayed opening or closing information. You may also call 1-631-344-4636 (INFO) from any off-site telephone or cell phone and extension x4636 (INFO) from an on-site BNL telephone.
Participants should check if they require a visa to enter the United States on the U.S. Department of State's U.S. Visas website.
Foreign travelers, who are citizens from certain eligible countries, may also be able to visit the U.S. for business (e.g. attend a scientific conference) or tourism for 90 days or less without a visa if they meet the Visa Waiver Program requirements. All eligible travelers who wish to travel under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorization on-line through ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).
