BGRR Operations: Pneumatic Sample Transfer
A small radioactive sample is removed form one of the pneumatic tubes at the BGRR. With this facility small amounts of material were quickly inserted into the reactor by pneumatic pressure. After the required irradiation by neutrons in the reactor, the radioactive sample was quickly returned by reversing air pressure. The health physicist at right is checking the radiation level with a portable instrument.
