Brookhaven Lectures, held by and for staff, are meant to provide
an intellectual meeting ground for all scientists of the Laboratory.
In this role they serve to both acquaint the listeners with new
developments and ideas not only in their own field, but also in
other important fields of science, and to provide a heightened awareness of the
aims and potentialities of Brookhaven National Laboratory.
BSA Distinguished Lectures are sponsored by Brookhaven Science
Associates, the company that manages Brookhaven National Laboratory,
to present topics of general interest to the Laboratory community
and the public. These lectures are free and open to the public.
Inaugurated in 1959, the Pegram lectures—named for George B.
Pegram, an American physicist and Vice President Emeritus of
Columbia University who helped found Brookhaven National
laboratory—bring distinguished scholars to the Laboratory to speak
on topics of scientific and general interest. Sponsored by
Brookhaven Science Associates, the lectures are free and open to the
public.
