BGRR Working Group Formed
The Brookhaven Graphite Research Reactor (BGRR) Working Group was formed to create an opportunity for dialogue between stakeholders and the BGRR Project Team as various cleanup options were being developed and considered. The intent was to help the Project Team make better decisions through stakeholder input. The Working Group met monthly from June 2000 through August 2003.
Working Group members were tasked with identifying community concerns with regard to the decontamination and decommissioning process and activities related to the environment and public health; advising the Project Manager with regard to community-related issues; making recommendations to support and enhance the decision process for major decommissioning activities; assisting with identifying innovative alternatives for project activities and disposition of materials; and recommending appropriate issues to be discussed with the broader community.
