Cedomir Petrovic


Cedomir Petrovic is the PI of the Exploratory Materials Synthesis and Characterization Group in the Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He joined Comscope when it was established and provides the materials foundation for theoretical activities. This includes close collaboration with theorists to experimentally validate Comsuite. Cedomir Petrovic highly values the collaborative effort with theorists on new materials design at Comscope. Petrovic's research program concentrates on the synthesis and characterization of new model materials of current interest in condensed matter physics. Strong effort is put in the discovery of new phenomena associated with the correlated behavior of electrons in connection to energy problems such as thermoelectricity or superconductivity. Materials are mainly fabricated in the single crystal form since many observables of interest are tensor quantities. Further, this allows for the investigation of properties that are free of grain boundary influences. Material characterization includes a variety of transport, thermal, magnetic and thermodynamic measurements, sometimes at extremely low temperatures and magnetic fields.
