Celebrate Earth Day with Brookhaven Lab’s Office of Educational Programs by playing an online trivia game about earth science. At 6:30 p.m. on April 21, join the Zoom event with one device for fun with the whole family. This game is recommended for families with children that are middle and high school aged based on the question difficulty, but all Lab families are welcome to play along. Head outside with your family and Brookhaven Lab’s Office of Educational Programs to learn about some aspects of science that occur around us every day. Explore the research being conducted at the Lab related to Environmental Protection and how scientists learn about animals living on site. Participants will practice using skills necessary for tracking animals and observing changes in our environment. Join the Zoom event at 6:30 p.m. on April 22 to participate with the whole family. Thursday, April 22 – Virtual Program Kit with Prerecorded Instructional Video
Gather the family for some dirty fun in the name of science for a virtual program. Kids of all ages will dig this easy experiment that will examine soil profile, test soil erosion, assess soil retention and evaluate soil pH. With the newfound information on the family’s bedrock, then learn how to make seed balls from recycled paper to plant for the spring season. This prerecorded webinar will be available to view beginning April 22 – follow along at any time. The content of this program is recommended for families with children – one complimentary program kit per family; limited availability. The deadline has passed to ship you a kit.
