Brookhaven Lab welcomes its first participant to the National Science Foundation AGEP-T FRAME program — postdoc Paulo Castillo. Castillo is conducting atmospheric research under the direction of Lab researcher Art Sedlacek in the Environment, Biology, Nuclear Science and Nonproliferation Directorate.

More than 500 science projects from 118 Suffolk County schools were entered into the 2015 Elementary School Science Fair. The Fair, sponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory and coordinated by the Lab's Office of Educational Programs, was held at the Laboratory on May 2.

R.C. Murphy Junior High School of Stony Brook won the Brookhaven National Laboratory/Long Island Regional Middle School Science Bowl held at the Lab on Saturday, March 7, 2015. R.C. Murphy students competed against 19 teams from 13 schools across the region in one of the nation's 50 regional competitions in the Annual U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl®.

Farmingdale High School edged out 15 other teams to take top honors at the U.S. Department of Energy Regional Science Bowl held at the Lab on January 31. The team will compete in the National Finals in Washington, D.C. in April.
