This year, Brookhaven will host ONLY the academic competition. Schools from Long Island schools are invited to participate.
In the academic competition, teams of middle school students answer questions on scientific topics in earth science, physical science, life science, math, and general science. The teams are comprised of five students (one of whom is an alternate) and a teacher who acts as an advisor and coach. The competition consists of a round robin followed by a single elimination final. Questions are in the form of multiple choice and short answer.
PLEASE NOTE: Photos will be taken and may be used in publications and on the web.

Trophies will be awarded to the top four teams with the winner of the academic competition receiving an invitation to an all-expense paid trip to compete in Washington D.C. for the national title.
All students who participate will receive certificates.
Teams are selected on first-come, first-serve basis. Teams may not change student participants after submittal. A new registration will need to be submitted and will then go back into the queue for selection.

All teams not accepted on their deadline date will be put in the queue for the next deadline date.
We will keep an alternate list until the day before the competition, in case of drop out
