Magnet Production Workshop

Brookhaven National Laboratory

April 11-12, 2012

Introduction

Noting that the fabrication of the multipole magnets for the NSLS-II Storage Ring are coming close to the end at the manufacturers worldwide, a workshop was held at BNL on April 11 and April 12, 2012.  The purpose of this workshop was partly to celebrate our reaching this important milestone, and also to share the knowledge and experiences gained by everyone involved in this endeavor.

The Multipole magnet production for the NSLS-II Storage Ring took place at five manufacturers spread worldwide, names going from nearest west in New Zealand to the United Kingdom.  They are:

  • Buckley Systems Limited, New Zealand
  • Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing, China
  • Budker Institute for Nuclear Physics, Novosibirsk, Russia
  • Danfysik, Denmark
  • Tesla Engineering, United Kingdom

Unfortunately, one of the manufacturers, IHEP, was not able to participate due to a delay in obtaining a U.S. visa in time for the workshop.
