Today's Proposal

To help cheer yourself up, look at what we've already accomplished.

This part of the schedule was developed by George S. and is being supervised by Robert P. with assistance from George.

Things which should get done but probably never will...

Permanent solution to detector enclosure air handling system water disposal.

Install spectrometer FEC to DMU cable strain relief on inner side.

FEC crate and fan movable support system installed on inner spectrometer.

FEC crate fans installed on inner spectrometer crates.

Decide what to do about crane to assist spectrometer installation (portable or magnet mounted?).

March Y2K

Mar.6

Continue overnight magnet tests.

Continue testing water cooling and dry air systems for Si.

Trigger system tunnel electronics fully tested.

Survey of installed CR configuration for octagon, spectrometer, and TOF {Thurs Fri}.

Practice installation of the enclosure {Thurs Fri}.

Tuning period for CR configuration begins.

All Cherenkov counters calibrated.

Any remaining ORR's of entire system.

Beam loss monitors installed.

Mar.13

Redo alignment of carbon fiber spectrometer plate in magnet(??).

Latchup circuitry tested.

Survey of Cherenkov trigger counters?

FEC cable supports for octagon FEC crate installed.

Final tests of tuning period detector systems continue.

Mar.20

Note: March 24-26 the RHIC tunnel is tentatively scheduled to be closed.

Hall humidity barrier system (air locks? local dehumidifier? tent?) finalized (Joe Scaduto! George Capetan! Al Pendzick!).

Day-1 (Phat 5.0 + new electronics) version of DAQ fully functional.

Final tests of tuning period detector systems finally done correctly.

Mar.27

Any remaining tasks get done, or else...

Wait for beam and keep detector working...

Apr.3

Note: April 3 the RHIC tunnel is tentatively scheduled to be closed for beam commissioning to start.

Wait for beam and keep detector working...

Apr.10

Wait for beam and keep detector working...

Apr.17

Wait for beam and keep detector working...

Apr.24

Wait for beam and keep detector working...

The (long?) wait for beam continues but still has a long list of unfinished tasks to do...

This preliminary list of items was developed by George S. and Robert P.  Robert will generate a detailed schedule with input from the collaboration.

Stuff to do before May XX

      Management

Organize staffing and training for shift personnel.

Get everything documented.

      TOF

Survey detector locations.

       DMU, Mercury, and DAQ

Get a system that can read all of the experiment and do extensive long-term tests.

Hookup and test new optical fibers.

Arrange cooling on DMU crate.

Generate documentation for how to run things on shift.

        Hardware monitoring and controls

Complete all elements, hopefully in a coherent, understandable system.

Have simple and clearly informative set of alarms.

Test system with non-experts.

         On-line monitoring

Same set of objectives as for hardware monitoring (see above).

         Beam loss monitors

Get system fully operational and integrated into monitoring.

         Magnet

Finalize and document magnet controls, procedures, and monitoring.

        Trigger counters and electronics

Test all cables, connections, and electronics modules.

Survey paddles and pre-survey Cherenkov counter.

Cosmic ray trigger for paddles and Cherenkov counters.

Test connections to RHIC for tuning purposes.

        Cherenkov trigger counters

Calibrate all counters.

Rewire mount to allow easy installation and removal.

        Rings

Survey all mounts into place (probably requires Si installed) and mark bases.

Survey and set stops on sliding mount inside enclosure.

Finalize mounts for D cables in enclosure.  Mount and test cables.

        Octagon

Finalize support of C cables and remount them on enclosure.

Switch of circuit board support bracket that blocks mounting rod.

Any needed repairs or changes.

Pre-survey of loaded octagon with added survey markers.

        Spectrometer

Pre-survey of carbon plate with added survey markers (may be already done).

Survey of carbon plate into magnet (may be done already).

Dismounting (any changes and/or  testing?) of modules from aluminum plate.

Mounting of all spectrometer modules on carbon plate.

Testing of modules on loaded plate.

Survey of fulled loaded carbon plate.

Manufacture of outer carbon small plate??
