High-eta counters almost ready.

Last changes being made in Xlinx code.

Desperate for something to test, Heinz does detailed evaluation of Miata electrical system.  Ships car to Vienna to get additional manpower.

Nov. 29

No FEC configuration changes or database failures for a whole week.  Frustrated and bored, Bolek resigns to take a position as VP in charge of Really-Complicated-Code at Oracle.

Online group grudgingly agrees to change tick mark size in display.   Monitor histogramming code unavailable for 3 weeks.

December 1999

Dec. 6

Mercury/DAQ improvement introduces small change in data structure.  Software effort comes to a crashing halt for 2 weeks.

George decides that delay cable arrangement is unaesthetic, demands that all cables be removed and re-pulled.

Dec. 13

Piotr decides that we need a new trigger signal requiring 37.6 ohm cable and 3 new custom circuit boards.  Confused by the title "L3 trigger", LNS diverts $5M of Sam Ting's funds to Phobos.  A total of $12.73 pays for three Russian electrical engineers for design and prototype, remainder spent by Bernie for evaluation and cables.

Dec. 20

Glitch found in Mercury/DAQ improvement, almost identical old code reintroduced.  It contains a new small change in data structure.  Software effort comes to a crashing halt for another 2 weeks.

Second arm funds for Electronics Facility available.  In a remarkable coincidence, the last parts of the first arm electronics are delivered.

Jan. 17

Phobos collaborator urinates into headwaters of the Peconic.  Local activists decry the massive biological contamination.  BNL shut down for 6 months to investigate.

RHIC management announces that they had always planned to deliver beam at the dawn of the new Millenium which they have now decided starts in January, 2001.
