Phobos Disks at the RCF

There are several disks at RCF available for various uses by Phobos users. The disks and their purposes are listed below.

Centralized, viewable from all RCF machines

User Directory

/phobos/u
This is Phobos' user area, for mail, executables, analysis output, and general computing work. Please do not put large data files here. Quotas of 2GB per user
Scratch Directories
/phobos/scratch($SCR,180GB), /phobos/scratch2($SCR2,300GB)
Data files needed for regular access, each file guaranteed to stay for 2 weeks after last touched only. Space dynamically allocated according to user needs, via clean_scratch(2) scripts, no quotas. If need long term storage/backups these files should be archived in HPSS.
Pass 0/DV Output Directory
/phobos/data02(960GB)
Location of TrgTrees, DVTress etc produced by Pass0, to be written to only by phobreco, to be readable by all.
User Data Directory

/phobos/userdata(6600GB)
Data files need to be permanent, that are regularly and commonly accessed.
These are allocated by the RCF liason upon justified request, there are quotas.

Monte Carlo Directory

/phobos/mc (780GB)
        Files associated with MC generation for phobos. Administered by MC coordinator (Krzysztof), only files approved by coordinator allowed.

Data Directories

/phobos/data2000(1TB),/phobos/data2001(1TB)

   Data files, from each running period, that are specific and useful to all of Phobos (i.e. the "Golden Files"). Coordinator of each are Gunther. These are what $SCR/COLLISIONS etc used to be for pr00. One can also fine track trees here. (data2000 has PR03 data).

 
General Utiltity Directories
/opt/phobos
   This is Phobos' AFS space. It is not currently used but may be soon. (/phobos/common may move here).
/phobos/common
This disk contains various common software. It is maintained by Nigel George, and you should not put something here without discussing it with him; but if there is something you know of general usage not otherwise available on RCF, you should contact him.

Distributed Disks: Viewable only locally to each node, and via rootd:

    root Data files, that are generally useful to phobos. Much larger choice "Good useful" files for any analysis. Coordinator:Gunther
