Overwiew of first results on signal properties

from Test Beam 98 modules and electronics

(P. Decowski, A. Olszewski, H. Pernegger, P. Sarin)

The following plots have been obtained by running the rawshow.C macro on the raw data file from Test Beam 98, run no 69. The histograms contain results from 400 events at each step of raw signal processing.

In the overview of pedestal distributions, plots of average pedestal levels and their RMS spread around the mean are shown. There are two types of plots. In the first type, with "Summ" in the title, there are channel numbers given on the X axis and pedestal means or RMS values on the axis Y. In this plot mean pedestal levels and their spread are shown for each channel separately. In the plot of the second type, with the statistics box shown, a typical  histogram is shown, illustrating properties of the distribution of pedestal means and their spreads over the whole string of channels for a particular FEC. The FEC and the string numbers are marked on plots (in the title or statistics box) as a sequence of two numbers connected by underscore character.

A similar pattern of plots can be found in the section of noise distributions. On these pages, plots of common mode noise average values for the six chips of a single string are shown as well as a corrected noise values for each of the string channels.
