Phobos Magnet Field Measurements at BNL
Magnetic field for negative arm finished!
Tuesday, February 16, 1999:
We finished doing the fine grid magnetic field map for the nominal
current setting of 3600A for the negative arm. Below you will find a
picture of the three magnetic field components for the mid-plane
(there were five of these planes). The grid size of the map is
1" x 1" x 2", the coordinates have not yet been translated into Phobos
coordinates.

Preliminaries
Friday, January 29, 1999:
We started to do the Phobos magnetic field
measurements.
Here are the very first results for a 45 deg trajectory going from the
nominal IP at full field. The measurements
were done with a hand probe and are for the vertical direction only (By
component):
Similar measurements were done for different current settings. These
will be put on the web shortly. Based on these results, a selection will
be made by Mark Baker what the nominal operating current will be.
Stay tuned!
