Frame 4 Modification
As part of a proposal to add extra support bracing to the modules with double hybrids
(electronics on top and bottom), it has been suggested that one module on Frame 4 be
rotated to put the connector on the outer edge. This way, any extra material would be out
of the active area. You can look at pictures of the old and
proposed new versions of frame 4. Items to note are:
- The silicon has moved away from the end of the frame (see arrows on the new drawing for the location of the Si edges in the old version.
- This means that the overlap of Si in the center is slightly larger. This adds redundancy
to the tracking of some particles but also adds multiple scattering.
- The Si doesn't stick out as far to the edge of the frame. However, if you look at the
lines on the old and new drawings, you
can see that the new version still ensures that there is no loss
of acceptance.
