Trigger Configuration Help

DAQ GUI is using preset configurations of trigger bits. There are 32 bits in the trigger system and most can be set on or off. Some of them have settable scaledowns.

Configurations are identified by name and validity date (e.g. MINBIAS 06/25/2001 15:00:00). There might be several configurations with the same name but with different validity dates.

DAQ GUI reads only the latest version of a specific trigger configurations. User has a choice of one of the several possible configurations. The idea is to prepare several named configurations for different running conditions.

An expert can prepare a new configuration by using set of web pages available from the portal. Configuration with the already existing name can be created but  DAQ will select only the one with latest validity date.

Each configuration is a set of parameters of 32 hardware bits stored together in one block of information in a table. To keep track of history of configurations the version of the hardware bit definition is recorded with each configuration.

The tools are provided to create new configurations using existing definitions of hardware bits. If one or more of hardware bits are changed (e.g. by creating a new trigger source) then Bolek or other qualified expert needs to manually update both the trigger bit definition table as well as ALL the configurations.
