Each Phobos Spectrometer Arm consists of 43 Silicon Pad Detector Modules, with a total of 700 readout chips and 170 silicon detectors which carry approximately 50000 individual pads. Phobos will use a total of 9 different module types in its spectrometer.

A brief geometrical discription to some of the Modules:

zoo1small.jpg (60741 bytes) The picture shows three different spectrometer module types. They are used in front and rear planes of the spectrometer
xmassmall.jpg (56976 bytes) This module is used in the rear planes of the spectrometer. Each so-called type-5 sensor has 256 pads distrubuted in 4 row and 64 columns. The pad size for this detector type is 0.667 x 19mm). The active area of this module (green coloured area) is approximately 160 by 80 mm2.
mod1small.jpg (63754 bytes) The Spectrometer Module 1 is used in the front four planes of the spectrometer. Each sensor (type-1) has 1540 pads in 22 rows and 70 columns. The pad size for a type 1 module is 1x1mm. The total active area of this module (green area) is 139 by 22 mm2.
m5t5small.jpg (52832 bytes) The Spectrometer Module 5  is use in the last two planes of the spectrometer. Each of its sensors has 256 pads in 4 rows and 64 columns. The pad size is 0667 x 19mm. The total active area of this module is approximately 120 by 80 mm2.
