Robert Palmer Elected to National Academy of Sciences
Robert Palmer of Brookhaven National Laboratory was elected to the National Academy of Sciences on April 29, 2008, one of 72 new members chosen this year (the NAS press release is here). Palmer, who has also won the American Physical Society's Wilson Prize and the Panofsky Prize, served as Brookhaven's Associate Director for High Energy Physics 1983-1986.
Program Advisory Committee Meets at Brookhaven
The Brookhaven National Laboratory Nuclear and Particle Physics Program Advisory Committee meets May 8-9, 2008 to discuss plans for RHC and AGS running. The draft agenda is here.

Elizabeth Wade, a senior at Barnard College, has published an interview with Bill Zajc of Columbia Univesity, former spokesperson of the PHENIX collaboration, in her "Fear of Physics" column in the Columbia Spectator student newspaper. The aricle can be seen here.

Craig Ogilvie of the PHENIX experiment writes that Hua Pei has successfuly defended his thesis and has been awarded his doctorate by Iowa State University.
