Motivation & Plans
This workshop marks the 10th anniversary of domain wall fermion simulations in lattice QCD. It seems like a good idea to take stock of how far we have come and where we are headed with chirally symmetric lattice QCD calculations.
Today, continual improvements in massively parallel computers have made large scale dynamical simulations using chirally symmetric fermions become a reality. New algorithms and improved lattice actions are also becoming increasingly important to leverage these powerful machines. Even greater computing resources are expected in the near future and with exciting experiments at RHIC, JLab, J-PARC, (Super-)B factories and the LHC underway or coming soon, it is a crucial time for the lattice community to assess where we can make a large impact.
Some questions we would like to discuss at the workshop include: What phyics should be done on the current ensemble of dynamical chiral fermion ensembles? How light do we have to go to reliably fit to Chiral Perturbation Theory? What are the promising new directions for our field? What problems are we likely to face as we push towards the continuum and chiral limits? How can we improve our methods?
