International Conference on Strong & Electroweak Matter 2006

Date: May 10-13, 2006
Location: Brookhaven National Laboratory
Meeting, Large Seminar Room, Physics Department, Building 510
Poster Session, Berkner Hall, Building 488

The purpose of this Conference is to bring together theoretical physicists working on matter in extreme conditions as found in the early Universe, the interior of compact stars and in heavy ion collisions. New results from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider experiments, results coming from lattice calculations on a new generation of Teraflops computers as well as results from perturbative and non-perturbative analytic studies of thermal field theories in and out-off equilibrium will be discussed at this conference.

With this 7th conference in the series, the SEWM meeting takes place in the U.S. for the first time. more...

Topics will include:

  • Phase transitions in particle physics and cosmology
  • Thermodynamics of strings and supersymmetric gauge theories
  • Strongly coupled gauge theories
  • Quantum fields in and out of equilibrium
  • Transport properties of dense matter
  • Properties of matter created in heavy ion collisions
  • Phase diagram and equation of state of QCD

One-day Workshop

  • A one-day workshop on J/Ψ suppression will be available at Brookhaven and will take place on the day before the start of the conference. Workshop Details
