Join Brookhaven Lab scientists at the Long Island Museum and browse the “Atoms to Cosmos” exhibit, a 75-year history of Brookhaven Lab discoveries. Take part in hands-on activities for all ages. Test your engineering and design skills, explore bubble chambers, discover the mysteries of light, and explore other kid-friendly scientific experiments!

From noon to 5 p.m. the Museum and grounds will be free for all members of the public. Please join us for the schedule below.

Noon - 5 p.m. Atoms to Cosmos” exhibit will be in the Main Gallery of the History Museum. Explore the social, scientific, and technological history of one of Long Island’s most important and internationally influential modern institutions since 1947.
Noon - 5 p.m. Interactive hands-on activities for all ages will be available in the Cowles Gallery immediately adjacent and accessible through the Main Gallery of the History Museum. Take a turn with hands-on activities for all ages that test your scientific, engineering and discovery skills!
1:15 p.m. Brookhaven National Laboratory, 1947 to Present” by Brookhaven Lab’s Natural Resource Specialist and Historian, Tim Green. The talk will be held in the Carriage Museum in the Gillespie Room.
2:30 p.m. Spin, Pop, Boom!” Audiences will be amazed by Mad Science Long Island's energetic and spectacular special event called Spin, Pop, Boom! The show features gravity defying feats, exotic sounds and a foam explosion that will leave the audience wanting more!
12:30 - 2:30 p.m. WALKIE bear and radio disc jockey from WALK FM, 97.5 will be stationed in the parking lot of the History Museum, come by to say hi!
All Day Tour the grounds of the Museum that, in addition to the History Museum, include the Carriage Museum, the Samuel H. West Blacksmith Shop, Nassakeag (South Setauket) Schoolhouse, Ploch- Williamson Barn, Sculpture Garden, Crocheted Trees and Herb Garden.
