Talk Title: An HPC Virtual Human case: respiratory system

Beatriz Eguzkitza is a senior researcher with degrees in Physics (Universitat de Barcelona) and a PhD in Computer Architecture (Numerical Methods) from UPC. Since 2014, she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

Her research focuses on computational fluid mechanics applied to the respiratory system, modeling phenomena like particle transport in inhalers, drug deposition, and the effect of mucus in pediatric airways. She is the Principal Investigator of different projects: "DREAMS" (Particle Deposition Computational Model for ChildREn Airways with Mucus Surface) and "HARMONIE" (Health Assessment Refinement for Mitigating Noise and AIR quality Effects). With them, the researcher continuously seeks to refine the model to make it an increasingly powerful tool in the field of the virtual lung and patient-specific treatments.

Beatriz has actively collaborated with industry leaders like Medtronic and Fluidda as well as research centers like UPF and the TIPs Laboratory at the University of Brussels.
